Mike Parks is the Studio Manager at Coda Room Chicago, but his history with the place goes considerably further back than the job title.
Mike was Coda Room Chicago’s very first client in 2016, before the acoustic panels were even finished. Since then, he’s gone from producer and longtime collaborator to the person overseeing the day-to-day life of the Chicago studio, from bookings and client relationships to keeping sessions, events and the room itself moving.
A vocalist, songwriter and producer, Mike got his start singing with the Brotherhood Chorale at Chicago’s Apostolic Church of God. His own work spans R&B, Hip Hop and ambient music, so he approaches Coda as an artist and creative as much as an operator. And after this many years around the studio, he has somehow absorbed enough Pro Tools to run a session in a pinch. We try not to make a habit of testing this.
Mike also co-created The Session, building the recurring Coda Room Chicago showcase as a place for artists, producers and other creatives to perform, meet and connect.
At this point, Mike is pretty inseparable from the day-to-day life and artist community around Coda Room Chicago.
